CSA Update - June 2018

I can't believe it's the second week of June! This spring has been a whirlwind on the homestead, thanks to all of you. I've been way behind on updates though, so my apologies.

We are still on track for Sunday June 24th for our first delivery, and the gardens and animals are off to a great start. We are looking at 8am to 10am for Sunday morning pickup window, if that works for everyone - if not, please let me know ASAP and we'll work to accommodate everyone.

Our thanks go out to you for your support and patience - we see all the farmers markets ramping up too, and I imagine you're just as excited to start eating fresh food as we are.

Growing things successfully, organically and wholesomely in our climate takes time but we're making some

serious headway.

Thanks to your early CSA orders, we were able to install our first hoop house, and got our earliest start ever on tomatoes, peppers and eggplants. We're hoping to win the homegrown tomatoes by the 4th of July challenge for the first time ever - and also to share nice vine-ripenened tomatoes with al of you. We've also started different varieties of herbs, greens, lettuce, squash and sweet corn among other things. There are no guarantees in farming, but we're anticipating enough successes to make for some satisfying weekly deliveries.

We have broiler chickens out on pasture (healthiest poultry ever), and expect to have whole chicken as part of week 1. We also just sent one pig to our Stratton's Custom Meats, for expert processing, smoking and packaging. Bottom line - your shares will be sure to include high quality protein.

If you're on instagram, please follow us at @sollohubfamilyfarm - it's much easier to snap some photos from the field than sit down at the computer after a long day of chasing chickens, goats and kids!

Thanks again and as always for your support. We have a blast working towards the dream of local, sustainable food, and we couldn't do it without you!
